Cardiac Rehab Program (Available at CH-F only)
The Cardiac Rehab Program consists of exercise, educaiton, and support for patients following heart attack,
stable angina (chest pain), or heart surgery such as CABG, PTCA, stents and valve
repair.

The number
of sessions depends on the insurance and patients' severity of disease/progress.
Any age may participate with
each session lasting approximately 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
The RN provides this outpatient servece.
Physical Therapy
The purpose of therapy is
to improve and restore mobility, quality of life, regain abilities that are used
in activities of daily living. Physical therapy offers a hands-on approach
to helping maximize your potential while minimizing discomforts. A program
can be designed to help with recovery in areas of neuromuscular, musculoskeletal,
pediatrics, orthopedic, geriatrics and incontinence. The initial evaluation
is completed by a Physical Therapist who will set up an individualized treatment
plan. This plan may include the services of a Physical Therapy Assistant.
Services are provided for our acute care and skilled care inpatients, outpatient
clinic, Holt County Outpatient Services, and Home Health.
Speech Therapy
Programs
The purpose of speech therapy is to diagnose
and treat a variety of speech, voice and language disorders, improve quality of
life and regain abilities that are used in your activiteis of daily living.
The speech therapist will complete an initial evaluation and create an individualized
treatment plan. This treatment plan may include oral motor exercises, sounds
and verbalizing, swallow studies that may diagnose swallowing difficulties, and
swallow retraining techniques. Services are provided for our acute care and
skilled care inpatients, outpatient clinic, Holt County Outpatient Services, and
Home Health.
Diabetes Self Management
Our diabetes specialists can guide you in living an active full life with diabetes. Our program includes
a nurse and dietician who are certified diabetes educators, an exercise specialist and a pharmacist.
Our educational classes cover topics that include healthy eating, being active, monitoring, taking
medication, problem solving, healthy coping and reducing risks. Individual and group sessions are
available and can be tailored
to meet your specific needs. The Community Hospital-Fairfax diabetes program is American Diabetes Association accredited.
Wellness Program
The Wellness Program offers an opportunity for continual conditioning for individuals after completion of rehab
program or
for anyone desiring the need of a regular disciplined exercise program.
Equipment available includes treadmills, stationary bicycles and nu-step for those
patients with difficulty walking. A fee is charged. This is paid out
of pocket; no insurance or Medicare will cover the cost. Consent form provided,
to be signed by their physician before starting the program.
