adults, interprets Holter Monitor Tests, Echocardiograms and performs Cardiac Stress
(treadmill) tests. In addition to the outpatient clinic, inpatients are seen at
CHA.
Cardiac Holter Monitor
Hours of Service: Monday —Thursday 7:00AM — 4:30 PM
The Holter Monitor has 5 electrodes applied to patient s chest with a tiny monitor
to carry with them for approximately 24 hours. The procedure is done as an inpatient
or outpatient for patients 20 years and older by the nurse who applies and removes
Holter and scans report after the Holter is removed. The doctor ordering the procedure
reads the scan, reports the findings and will refer the patient to the cardiologist
if necessary. This test can determine a heart arrhythmia or irregular heart beat.

is done as an outpatient and takes 15 minutes for the prep and 30 minutes for the
test. The test is monitored by Physicians on staff and the Cardiologists. The patient
comes approximately 15 minutes early to have the electrodes applied to chest area
and hooked up to treadmill machine/computer. Patient will walk on the treadmill
and will be monitored by the physician and nurse. Patient will need to walk on the

procedure can be done by the nurses, FNP or Respiratory Staff as an outpatient or
inpatient.
Echocardiogram / Vascular Studies
Hours of Service: Per Physician Request
Echocardiogram is an ultrasound of the heart. A Doppler is run over the heart to
get a view of the hearts chambers, blood flow, and valves. It also will include
the hearts ejection fraction percent, which is the force in which the heart can
pump blood out of heart to the rest of the body. Vascular tests are done for arterial
and venous studies of lower extremities. Carotid Doppler studies are done to evaluate
blood flow and circulation in the carotid arteries in the neck. The testing time
is 45-60 minutes for age 20 and up. The procedure is performed by a Technician as
an outpatient or inpatient.
