Large crowd witnesses CH-F groundbreaking

It was history in the making at the Fairfax ball fields on Friday, July 18 for Community Hospital-Fairfax.

The crowd of hundreds watched as dirt from the building site of the new hospital was turned, launching the start of a project that has been years in the making.

The Leo A. Daly architectural firm presented renderings of the new facility that included exterior and interiors views. North of the ball field, the crowd could see the stakes for the building.

Those who broke ground were members of the Board of Directors, John Sibley, Kiewit Building Group, Joe Lempka, Kiewit Building Group, From Leo A. Daly: John Andrews, Joy A. Willoughby and Sabrina R. Ahern; John Lehning, JEL and Associates, Glenn Fosdick from The Nebraska Medical Center and Myra L. Evans, Community Hospital-Fairfax.

A group of “little groundbreakers” also had a hand in the ceremony. Children and grandchildren of Community Hospital-Fairfax employees and board members wore hard hats and shoveled the dirt. The groundbreakers were Mason Straub, Kendal Straub, Britney Wright, Blade Wright, Claire Martin, Sophia Martin, Grace Martin, Grace Oswald, Cameron Oswald, Riley Lewis, Addison Lewis, Hailey Bomar, Paige Stoner, Hallie Grist, Georgia Swinehart, Isaiah Smith, Zane Coleman, Aubrey Brown, Connor Brown, Macy Hower, Aaron Schlueter, Josie Watkins and Aubrey Watkins.
