of a three part series that describes the events offered at the Community Hospital-Fairfax
Health Fair
The list of activities for the Community Hospital-Fairfax Health Fair has grown
to include many opportunities for every member of your family to learn about healthcare
and healthy living.
LifeNet’s helicopter will be flying in for the event. The helicopter that is services
the Northwest Missouri region will land on the Fairfax High School football field
and will be open for tours. This year, LifeNet is celebrating its tenth year anniversary
providing rapid transport for critically ill and injured patients.
Linda Kahle, RN, is the Director of Nursing at Community Hospital-Fairfax. Her booth
will feature immunization information. Along with the hospital’s Obstetrics Department
and Pharmacist Harold Lawrence, she will provide parents with tips on children’s
immunizations and adult immunizations.
"Being a mom and in health care, I understand how confusing the immunization schedule
can be. We have a team of trained professionals who can help during these challenging
decisions," Linda said.
Missouri State Highway Patrolman Mike Quilty has information on bicycle and school
bus safety and proper seatbelt and car seat use. His booth will also feature coloring
books and stickers for children to take home.
“I’ll be there to answer any questions about safety regarding school-aged children,”
Patrolman Quilty said.
April Stoner, Community Hospital-Fairfax’s Patient Accounts Manager, invites the
public to learn about Legal Aid, Medicaid and Medicare at her booth. She will also
teach you how to avoid insurance fraud.
Blood pressure checks will be provided by Home Health Director Jeanie Mackey in
the cafeteria.
The hospital’s Wellness Committee plans on providing a variety of information on
healthy living and skin protection.
You’ll have an opportunity to get your Body Mass Index calculated and win a membership
to ABY Fitness in Tarkio.
There will be handouts for parents on protecting their children from sun damage.
Children can take home sunscreen samples and learn the American Cancer Society’s
“Slip Slop Slap” method protecting their skin.
The Community Hospital-Fairfax staff hopes to see you at the Health Fair on May
15, 2008.
