The circus is coming to Community Hospital-Fairfax, May 13
If you haven’t already done it, be sure to put
Community Hospital-Fairfax’s Health Fair on your calendar for May 13, 2009 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
This family friendly event is a great reason
to visit the hospital, meet the staff and learn about several aspects of health
care for both children and adults.
The opportunities for kids to learn about the hospital keep growing. In the hospital’s conference room, kids will get the chance
to dress up as doctors and nurses and find out what it is like to work at Community
Hospital-Fairfax. Children are encouraged to bring their stuffed animals for a check
up, where they will both have their height and weight checked.
Community Hospital-Fairfax is giving out sunscreen
and helpful tips about protecting your skin in the summer. To learn the “ABCDEs
of Melanoma” visit the booth in the conference room for a handout from the American
Academy of Dermatology. The AAD is encouraging people to keep a “body mole map”
in their health files to identify and track moles. This is a great informational
booth for adults and fun for kids, who can map out their moles with markers and
coloring pages.
In the hospital’s solarium, Atchison County Sheriff
Dennis Martin is talking with kids and adults about outdoor safety. He will have
information on teaching kids about stranger danger, bicycle safety and general safety
while playing outdoors. This booth includes handouts for adults and coloring books
for kids.
In the dining room, Community Hospital-Fairfax
Director of Finances Suzanne Southard will host the booth “Don’t Clown Around With
Your Finances,” where you can pick up information on a variety of financial topics.
One of the most exciting things at the circus is the arrival of the LifeNet helicopter, which will be landing at the
Fairfax High School football field. Come and get an inside look at the
helicopter, plus get a tour of an Atchison-Holt Ambulance.
These activities, plus many more are all available
at the Community Hospital-Fairfax Health Fair, “Don’t Clown Around with Your Health.”
We will see you at the circus!
