Fairfax First Graders Visit CH-F

Fairfax first grade students experienced what it is like to be a patient at Community Hospital-Fairfax on April 9.

Mrs. Clark’s class visited with Trisha Quimby, LPN for Pediatric Orientation, an activity that the hospital’s development council has been providing for area students for many years.

Volunteers Jerry Whittington and Pat Kruse helped dress the class up as patients, doctors and nurses and gave wheelchair rides.

The first graders tested out a patient bed and listened to their heartbeats with stethoscopes. They also looked at x-rays with Radiology Manager Beth Mackey. The kids’ favorite activity was giving their teacher a pretend shot in the arm.

Pediatric Orientation introduces children to the hospital so they are more comfortable if they are ever admitted to the hospital.

Fairfax first graders who took part in Pediatric Orientation were: Wyatt Burke, Kilea Cooper, Jaycee Graves, Jesse Graves, Kayden Holecek, Gavin Knapp, McKenzie Frohn and Morgan O’Riley.
