Craig First Graders Visit CH-F

Craig first graders got an inside look at what it is like to visit Community Hospital-Fairfax on April 6.

Mrs. Bredensteiner’s class visited with Ashlee Driskell, staff LPN for Pediatric Orientation, an activity that the hospital’s development council has been providing area students for many years.

The first graders tested out a patient bed, weighed themselves and listened to their heartbeats with stethoscopes. They took wheelchair rides and visited the nursery where many of them were born.

Steve Blackard, laboratory manager, talked about visiting the lab and having blood drawn and expressed to the class that the procedure wouldn’t hurt if they had to visit him. Radiology manager Beth Mackey brought x-rays to show the students

Pediatric Orientation introduces the children to the hospital so they are familiar with procedures and staff they would meet if they were admitted to the hospital.

Mrs. Bredensteiner’s first graders who visited the hospital were: Sierra Bliesner, Jaelynn Hill, Skyler Hufford, Ryan Lewis, Cody Lundblade, Gage McClain, William Miller, Paige Stoner, Jordan Twyman and Selena Welch.
