Welcome to Community Hospital

Community Hospital is a not-for-profit, 25-bed critical access hospital located in Fairfax, MO. It provides comprehensive patient care including acute care, 24-hour emergency services, diagnostic laboratory and radiology services, physical,

occupational, and speech therapies, obstetrical care, skilled care and home health services. The hospital also operates specialty clinics, cardiac rehab and a public education outreach program. The hospital has a history of serving the region. It opened in 1949 as Fairfax Community Hospital.

Our New Hospital

On July 18, 2008, shovels turned dirt from the construction site of our soon-to-be new home. From that day on, the landscape on Highway 59 in Fairfax has been changing!

For a few months into early 2009, Fairfax boasted their very own “pyramid” on the hillside. This mound of dirt on the site was used to compact the dirt where the hospital will be built.

After the surcharge was cleared away, a smoother, flatter area allowed us to envision the layout for the new facility. Now, it’s time for the electrical lines and other necessary utilities connections to be laid. Also, the sewer and water lines on the hospital-owned property are being prepared.

What’s next? After the utilities are complete, in comes the concrete. We’ll be seeing the drive way and parking lots soon!

Back at our current home, we’re envisioning our future! The hospital staff has been working many hours with the architects to define the interior look of our new home. The carpet, furniture, color scheme and atmosphere of the new hospital are taking shape.

Check back with us soon to hear more about our future home!

Capital Campaign Update

A journey that started last year to raise money for Community Hospital-Fairfax’s new facility has surpassed its goal of raising $1.5 million.

On June 30, 2009, in front of a crowd of hospital supporters, contributors and employees, Community Hospital Board of Directors President Beverly White announced that the capital campaign, Investing In Our Healthy Future, has raised $1,518,433.39 and donations are still coming in.

The fundraising initiative was introduced by a steering committee just over a year ago in May 2008. Since its start, the capital campaign has received immense support from the community.

“We have 167 individuals, businesses and foundations that have pledged to our campaign, over 100 participants in our 5K Fun Walk event and 100 per cent of our employees who have also contributed generously to this campaign. We will all have great health care right here at home because of you,” Myra Evans, CEO, told the crowd.

The steering committee members were recognized at the ceremony, as well as key supporters of the campaign and Congressman Sam Graves, who was instrumental in helping the hospital receive a congressional appropriation for $377,000.

Donations toward the effort are still being accepted. Contact the Development Office at Community Hospital-Fairfax for more information at (660) 686-2211 ext. 259.
